Witchcraft Wednesday: Moon Cycle Pains

I was reading back through Wizardess Epi's Bloody April series and I was hoping to find some advice on the pain that comes along with our lovely moon cycle.  Although I did find all of those great links to reusable pads that I still need to purchase and a bunch of spells that will come in handy in the future, I didn't find any spells, rituals or herbal treatments for pain.  Of course, I have my books and they always recommend the same herb: camomile.  I've tried it.  It eases some of the pain but not enough to make the week go by a little easier.  I was actually wondering if any of my readers have something that they've done.  I'm trying to do something natural and I'm willing to try just about anything.  I'm trying to be a little bit more "proud" of my womanly cycle but the pain makes it very difficult!

So, readers?  What treatments do you have hidden in your cauldrons?

Magaly over at http://pagan-culture.blogspot.com recommends ginger tea... brew some slices of fresh ginger in hot water, add some sugar/honey, and there you go.

I'm obviously blessed in this regard, but for the 2 times of the year when it's really tough, I massage my lower abdomen with clove oil. Helps, but smells not nice (unless you like cloves).

Have someone massage your ankles. It works.

When it gets really bad, which it often does, I make myself exercise--really exercise. The pain stops while you're doing so, and if you exercise long enough the pain either lessens on its own or allows whatever treatment you've used time to work.

I agree with the ginger root tea. Also stretching can help with cramping, although sometimes stretching is the last thing you want to do. Start slowly.

Since having my baby girl, my moon cycle isn't as bad as it was but I can still relate to the pain. Before I had my little one I used to do sit ups (in private, as I don't like exercising in front of people). Not only does it help with cramping, but it helps your cycle get done with more quickly. Not an excessive amount but just 5 to 10 at a time, a few times a day. Taking arnica (internally) is sure to help as well. Follow the directions on the package. Taking it a few days before you get your monthly will help your body ward off those big, awful cramps. Good luck!!

Thank you all for your advice and help. The ginger root tea helped a great deal. I was in too much pain to exercise which made me quite angry. I'm going to Zumba at the gym today to make up for it. I'll have to look into the arnica as I'm not familiar with it. I have to be careful with some of the things I do/take. I have a copper IUD implant as I cannot take horomone based birth control thanks to a genetic clotting disorder. Whoo!
